Adam Lambert’s Glitter Jizz Aside, Help Haitian Orphans

All the posts about using Adam Lambert’s jizz to create unicorn zombies with the hopes of curing the world’s pandemic of douchebaggery and nail clipping cubicle neighbors aside, there are serious problems in this world.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock or are deployed overseas, which are essentially the same in some cases, you’ve heard about the heartbreaking devastation in Haiti.  You’ve seen the soul-crushing pictures & video of the destruction and the piles of dead on the news.

Even if you can’t hop on a plane and fly to Haiti, there are things you can do. The easiest of all:  text “HAITI” to 90999 and $10 will be donated to the Red Cross and the charge will just be added to your next phone bill.

Also, if you have an airplane or know anyone who does or might have access to one, Virginia Montanez a.k.a. “Jane Pitt” of That’s Church fame is desprately looking for a plane to transport 150 orphans from the Bresma Orphanage in Haiti to Pittsburgh.  Go to ThatsChurch.com to read the full story from the beginning, but here’s the summary:

Jamie & Ali with the Kids

Jamie & Ali with the Kids via thatschurch.com

Virginia’s friends, Jamie & Ali, run– ran– the Bresma Orphanage until the other day when all Hell broke loose and the biggest earthquake in Haitian history destroyed the island nation. Now, Jamie and Ali are trying to keep 150 children alive. They have no food, no water, and no medical supplies. They refuse to leave the children, because if they leave, the kids will die.

All 150 children, even those not set for U.S. adoption, have been legally cleared to enter the United States.

Now, they need a plane capable of bringing all of them to Pittsburgh.

Please pass this word on. Whether you link here or to thatschurch.com (which would really be the best), this word needs to get out ASAP. Please pass it on to everyone you know, because clock’s a-tickin’. The human body can survive for a week without water, and it’s been 3 days. Do the math.

The world needs more people like Jamie, Ali, Virginia, and Jenny the Blogess (who has spread this around on Twitter like wildfire).

UPDATE: The orphans are going to need a lot of things when they do get to PA. This post from the family details the needed items, but they include:

  • diapers (infant, baby, toddler)
  • powdered baby formula
  • crackers/snacks (appropriate for small children)
  • warm coats/winter clothes/shoes (baby, toddler, children)
  • bottled water.

They don’t need:

  • toys
  • books
  • baby food
  • or summer clothes at this time.

If you’re in the Pittsburgh area,  you can drop off  items after 11 a.m. at:

1212 West North Avenue.

Please proceed  through the gate. Leave your donations in the right front apartment (1212) on the first floor.  The doors will be unlocked.  There will be a sign that says “BRESMA Donations”.

If, like me, you’re out of the area, you can mail tax-deductible donations to payable to “Keystone Church of Hazelwood”:

161 Hazelwood Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15207-1566

Please put “BRESMA orphanage” on the memo line.

Let’s save some babies!
